About Don
In his own words, from his YouTube channel.
I'm Don May. In 2021, after years of battling Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, I underwent CAR-T cell therapy. I decided to document the experience as it happened — from preparing for treatment, through CAR-T infusion and hospitalization, to recovery afterward.
This channel contains my original day-by-day video diary, three episodes that bring that journey together, and new updates about life years after CAR-T.
I now volunteer with Blood Cancer United and speak with patients and caregivers facing their own blood cancer journeys. My hope is simple: that seeing what one patient actually experienced will make the road ahead a little less unfamiliar.
My experience is personal and everyone's CAR-T journey is different. This channel is not medical advice. Always discuss treatment decisions and medical questions with your healthcare team.
From the diary
My dear wife, my ultimate caregiver, ordered custom wrist bands supporting my cancer fight and sent them out to family and friends. Each day while I was in the hospital she brought more pictures to add to my album. This was a loving way to show that I wasn't alone.
From “CARETAKERS - How can I support someone going through CAR-T?”I feel like I am in good hands.
From “7 Days Before CAR-T - Team Meeting LET'S GO!”My new re-engineered T-Cells were infused. Nancy and I were excited and a little scared. It only took 20 minutes to infuse. AMAZING!
From “Day 0 - CAR-T Infusion Day! - BIG DAY! HELLO T-CELLS!”Lots to be thankful for...excellent care by everyone that works in this unit.
From “Day 10 - Hooray!!! Heading HOME!”
